Competition Guidelines:
Duo Events
Format:
Urban Cheer UK duo events offer dance schools an exciting opportunity to select dance pairings and create choreography to specifically suit the combined ages and abilities of these.

On competition day, Urban Cheer UK will select an appropriate music track for duos to dance-off against their peers and these events will be organised by age group.

ncreasing difficulty with Dance 1 offering the most basic choreography and Dance 5 the most complex.
At Urban Cheer II, dancers may only enter ONE solo event, except for when they are NOT entering as part of a team at the competition. In this case, dancers may enter two solo events.
For those not competing in a team and entering two solo events – the two routines must be at consecutive levels, for example 1&2; 2&3; 3&4; 4&5.
The first round of the solo events will proceed in order of difficulty.
Dancers should enter the dance level most suited to their ability and Teachers should encourage progression through the levels.
Dancers must compete in the correct age category and proof of age MAY be required for verification purposes.

Teachers should submit the individual details of their competition entrants at www.urbancheeruk.com and this should include their school name; competitor's first and last name; age (on competition day); solo dance level (1-5); and solo dance level for 2nd dance (1-5) if not competing in the team event.

Qualified dance teachers are NOT permitted to enter solo events at Urban Cheer II.

Judging:
All elements of the competition adjudication will be carried out by suitably qualified and experienced industry professionals. They will NOT be connected to Urban Cheer UK other than as part of their official duties on competition day.
The competition scrutineer will use the ‘skating system’ to analyse the adjudicator’s marks.
In the main, six dancers will be selected from preliminary rounds to proceed into an event final. On occasion, five, seven or eight dancers may be selected as a consequence of the analysis under this system.

The adjudicator’s scoring and the scrutineer's decision will both be final.
Results:
All duo event finalists will be presented with a trophy at our end-of-competition prize presentation.
The first and last names of all competition finalists may be announced during the prize presentation. If this presents a difficulty for any competitor, we request that Teachers make Urban Cheer UK aware so that this can be avoided. Competition entry numbers shall be announced prior to this.
All competition results will be uploaded to www.urbancheeruk.com immediately following the event. As above, the names of all winners will be listed – if this presents a difficulty for any competitor, we request that Teachers make Urban Cheer UK aware so that this can be avoided.
